Abstract: This investigation is about the projections of changes oflandspace and economic activities by the year 2000 of a small rural area of the Auvergne Région, Mézenc, in Haute-Loire. Its future seems connected to the keeping of primary schools, the maintenance of council roads, rationalization of milk collection, the increasing of farm sizes, and the development of the crosscountry skiing resort.
