Abstract:
It is proposed to add to existing typologies of farms or individuals and farm households, a classification of farm managers (and of their farms and families) based on their socioprofessional category in the INSEE (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies) sense. A distinction is thus made between three subsets called principal agriculture, complementary agriculture and retirement agriculture, and the first is subdivided according to the economic size of the farm and its main production. Relationships between the socioprofessional category of farmers and their incomes - farm income and others - show the advantage of the proposed classification.
