Les Etats-Unis vont-ils changer de politique agricole ?

Michel Petit

Économie rurale, 1985, vol. 170

Abstract: The identification of the main actors involved in the US agricultural policy process and the analysis of their strategies permits one to interpret the recent debates and to consider a few likely scenarios. The main actors are classified in two broad categories: economic organizations and public agencies. Among the former, farm organizations and more particularly commodity groups play the most important role. In the latter category the role of the legislators, linked to their party, their seniority and the chamber they belong to must be distinguished from that of the Executive branch. The consequences of the current US debate for European agriculture may be very great.
