Abstract:
This article presents the main agro-environmental measures decided in the accompanying plan of the Common agricultural policy reform (1992). Based on the Farm Accounting Data Network (FADN - 1995), it characterises the farms which are eligible to this disposal and analyses the weight of these specific subsidies in the farm income. Around 17% of the whole French professional farms have agro-environmental subsidies, these subsidies represent 15% of their total amount of direct subsidies. The eligible farms have a lower income than the others but they have a larger surface (67 hectares including half of permanent grass). These farms are mostly localised in disadvantaged areas, especially in the region specialised in beef production such as Auvergne, Bourgogne, Limousin, Midi-Pyrénées and Rhône-Alpes.
