Abstract:
The effects of removing all internal support measures in the French cereal, oilseed and protein crop (COP) sector, under the alternative assumption that the Community preference is either maintained or abolished, are assessed with MEGAAF. French grain imports from third countries are explicitly modeled, as well as the European protection system. Simulation results show that the French COP sector is far less affected when the Community preference is maintained. Results also suggest French selfsufficiency in grains could be challenged following the removal of the Community preference.
