Développement durable et analyse énergétique d'exploitations agricoles

Bernadette Risoud

Économie rurale, 1999, vol. 252

Abstract: Does the energy balance of farm, in which are accounted non-renewable energy incorporated into farm inputs and gross energy of the products, provide indicators of sustainable development ? On the basis of examples, it is shown that, in simplifying and quantifying complexity, energy efficiency reveals farm autonomy, its utilization of local ressources and non-renewable energies. Furthermore, it is pointed out that: better energy efficiencies are obtained in plant production than 20 years ago ; energy analysis is relevant to compare different management sequences of a given crop or animal product and to provide an internal assessment of the farm.
