Cinquante ans de sondages d'opinion: les agriculteurs vus par les autres Français et par eux-mêmes

Économie rurale, 2000, vol. 255-256
Abstract:
Fifty years of public opinion polls: farmers seen by other french people and by themselves - The «awful» image of farmers and rural areas, largely spread fifty or one hundred years ago, has entirely changed. For public opinion, agriculture is, nowadays, a good stake for French economy, especially for exportation. It has to be helped, because it has a promising future and life is better in rural areas than in towns. Farmers themselves think they have become true managers who run their farm according to the most modern methods and to the market's laws. They are a little afraid by the European building, but are keen supporters of the «euro».This paper in based on the study of old and recent authors and of public opinion polls since 1945.
