Abstract: Using the results of a survey of businessmen, this communication presents an initial report on automation processes in the French meat industry. Restructuring of this industry was part of food industry modernization. Automation accompanied a mutation of production standards. These results permit identification of the future outlook and conditions for success of modernization programs in this industry from an industrial policy perspective.
