Abstract:
Numerous index formulas can be derived from aggregator functions, which correspond to different assumptions about technology. They give different estimations of total factor productivity in the french agricultural sector between 1967 and 1985. We try here to explain these differences and to choose which index, among the different ones (superlative, arithmetic, geometric indexes, chain or non chain versions) is advisable in agricultural economic studies.
