Abstract:
Agribusiness has become increasingly important to the Brazilian economy. Given the growing discussion about the environmental impacts of agribusiness in Brazil and the significant increase in the use of pesticides, an analysis of the environmental and social impacts that the proper disposal of agrochemical packaging can cause has become crucial. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to conduct a cost-benefit analysis, both social and environmental, of the process of collecting and disposing of pesticide packaging in Brazil. After calculating the costs and benefits, it was found that this process is still economically unfeasible. However, it should be noted that the lack of quantitative data on the impact on health and the environment could considerably alter the results.
