Journal of Rural Development/Nongchon-Gyeongje, 2014, vol. 37, issue 01

Abstract: Recently, the world agricultural market has been integrated very fast under free trade agreements. Although this dramatic change may cause disastrous effects on Korean agricultural sector, it could also be a huge change to increase Korean agricultural exports. Pears are considered as one of the most important export items because their export is growing very fast in recent years. This paper examines the structure of Korea's pear export using the gravity equation to draw an implication for policy makers and pear exporters. The important finding is the number of Korean immigrants has been played an important role to pear exports of Korea.
