Roczniki (Annals), 2014, vol. 2014, issue 01

Abstract: The study identified reasons of inefficiency in farms specializing in field crops. To achieve this goal used empirical data from farms specializing in field crops that collected the data from 2005 to 2011 for Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN). Using a parametric method, Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) analyzed the group of farms that was divided into three groups in depend on the ratio of technical efficiency. Then they were subjected to a comparative analysis of production capacity, organization and structure of production, economic efficiency and severity investment. It was found that technically efficient farms are those which were characterized by the smallest amount of work per 1 ha, had the greatest area of arable land, the best-labor and a favorable economic situation.
