Roczniki (Annals), 2015, vol. 2015, issue 5

Abstract: The main objective of the article is to analyse students’ attitudes towards the issue of work. For the purposes of the present article, the survey was conducted among 174 horticulture students at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) in 2014/2015. Both the article and the questionnaire are focused on economic and non-economic factors that have a significant influence on the type and line of work which the students would like to choose in the future. The analysis of the questionnaires shows that more than half of the students surveyed would like to work according to their education/ profession and would not change a present field of study. The majority (61%) of the surveyed would like to start their own business after graduation. A positive aspect is that the students are aware of the fact that work experience and a good command of foreign languages create better job and career prospects even in recession. Therefore, 63% of respondents worked or has been working while studying at the same time.
