Abstract: The paper was to assess availability of organic food in selected sale points in Bydgoszcz. The research hypothesis assumed that, in the majority of analysed sale points we can observe the shortfall of organic products. Main barriers of purchasing organic food include: high price and limited availability of the category of products in Bydgoszcz. During research there were used two methods of gathering information - observation of the assortment offer in the sale points and the internet survey conducted in among the inhabitants of Bydgoszcz. There were prepared two research tools - a survey and an observation log. The research was conducted in December 2013 and January 2014. It was noticed that the market in Bydgoszcz lacks such organic products as: meat, long-life products, fresh fruit and vegetables, tea, coffee, cacao, honey, sugar and confectionery and pastry.
