HAPPINESS AND SUFFERING THROUGHOUT MAN’S LIFE – AN ATTEMPTED RATIONALISATION

Abstract:
An individual person during his life will experience feelings of both happiness and suffering. Happiness can be when a person is healthy, successful and achieving things that he holds dear. This is because he is called upon by God to happiness both in this life and in the eternal. On the other hand suffering is when failure, disasters, illness and death happen. In a person's lifetime the ability to endure pain must therefore be learnt. When this is achieved, with the intention of so wanting to, the suffering then ceases. Thus, a person who genuinely suffers becomes happy.
