Abstract: The interest of affluent societies, which also include European countries, focuses on increasing the quality of life, extending the duration of life, functioning as long as possible in good health. Poland has a lot of catching up to do in this area, i.e. extending the length of life in good health. Growing spending in the field of healthcare is struggling to keep up with the needs of an ageing population and the ever-increasing prices of new drugs and new medical technologies. Faced with these challenges, pharmacies and pharmacists are being increasingly involved in the patient care system.
