Abstract:
This article analyses the evolution of academic research on regional innovation ecosystems based on publications indexed in the Scopus database from 2014 to 2023. The primary aim of the article was to identify key research trends in regional innovation ecosystems through bibliometric analysis in the years 2014–2023. To achieve the assumed goal, two research questions guide the study: (1) What are the main research trends in regional innovation ecosystems?; (2) What are the characteristics of collaboration among authors dealing with this topic? The study uses two bibliometric procedures: performance analysis and science mapping. The findings reveal the absence of a dominant research trend in the field and highlight limited collaboration among scholars studying regional innovation ecosystems.
