Abstract: The influence of accession to the EU on the development of foreign trade in fruit, vegetables and their preserves in Poland is presented in the paper. The impact of larger exports and imports on the tendencies in production of fresh and processed horticultural products was also analysed as well as the influence of accession on the level of certain indices used to measure competitiveness at sector level. They were mainly the mutual relations of exports and imports and their contribution to the domestic production and supply of horticultural products. / Synopsis. W artykule przedstawiono zmiany eksportu i importu owoców, warzyw i ich przetworów w Polsce po przystąpieniu do UE, a także wpływ zwiększonych obrotów handlu zagranicznego na kształtowanie się tendencji w produkcji świeżych i przetworzonych produktów ogrodniczych. Analizie poddano też zmiany poziomu wybranych wskaźników zewnętrznej konkurencyjności sektora ogrodniczego. Wskaźniki te dotyczą głównie wzajemnych relacji eksportu i importu oraz udziału eksportu i importu w krajowej produkcji i podaży produktów ogrodniczych.
