Abstract:
This study presents an analysis of agribusiness Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. It was evaluated agribusiness GDP data between 2004 and 2015, considering the segments and components of production chains that make up the agribusiness of the state. It aims to highlight evidence of significant changes in the productive structure of the agribusiness in the period, highlighting the sector’s growth model and the main factors associated with its performance. It was found a strong relation between agribusiness and the total GDP of this state, and also the growing importance of agro-industrial segments in front of the primary production. It was emphasized the continued high share in front of traditional supply chains such as those related to coffee and milk that were modernized in recent decades and have remained competitive.
