Abstract:
The aim of this study was to evaluate the theoretical model Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) to diagnose the leadership profile of students in agronomy from the University of Sonora, Mexico. We used the self-assessment procedure on a sample of 168 students. A 45 questions instrument was used, with Likert scaling, validating its content and internal reliability (Cronbach's alpha for each dimension). The statistical analysis included the general descriptive and use of structural equation modeling (SPSS 16 and Amos, 16). Model results indicated the data are consistent with the proposed research model, with a Chi2 of 36.4, a ratio Chi2/gl of 1.26 a p-value of 0.16, a TLI of 0.98, a RMSEA of 0.039, and a CFI of 0.99. There was a positive correlation of transformational leadership, transactional and performance with their respective theoretical sub dimensions. We found a positive relationship between transactional leadership and performance indicators and that that transformational leadership has a marginal effect on performance indicators, but nevertheless has a strong relationship with transactional leadership, giving evidence of their status directly relates to transactional leadership and lack of direct relation to the performance indicators.
