UN SISTEMA ALTERNATIVO DE INTERCAMBIO COMERCIAL: EL COMERCIO JUSTO

Margarita Pineda Tapia, Antonio Díaz Viquez and Amalia Pérez Hernández

Revista Mexicana de Agronegocios, 2014, vol. 35, issue July-December 2014, 10

Abstract: Each day, each and every one of us becomes consumers; every selection done, gives direction to the market and the economy inside the country and worldwide. Today, we have the freedom to choose from a variety of products and brands that cover our needs and desires, but rarely, we stop to think about the people and the process that made possible the arrival of these products to the shelves where they are displayed. The truth is that the system leading the global supplies market is controlled by 20 corporations. In this system, the producer does not always obtain the payment that may suit the value of their done hard work in order to get the product, marginalizing the access of a decent life. The aim of this paper is to characterize an alternative trade system: "Fair Trade", which seeks to reward the producer for his work integrating the products price, the social, economic and environmental costs.
