Abstract: The concentration and specialization indices of agricultural activity in the states for 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013 are estimated. Considering the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), by sector and by Mexican states. The estimation is made in the context of the specification of the Gini coefficient and the specialization indices. The results indicate that the concentration of agricultural activities had increased from the 20 years analyzed in this research. The states that have historically developed activities in the primary sector have tended to increase their participation in this sector. In terms of specialization, thirteen states have a higher than average degree of specialization and half of them have a coefficient greater than 2. On the other hand, in terms of economic growth and specialization, evidence indicates that highly specialized entities have moderate economic growth.
