Abstract:
The blackberries and some types of raspberries, which are cultivated in wild form, are representatives of the berries in Mexico; the biological properties of his pigments, as well as his antirust capacity they have allowed his classification as functional food, called super fruits, being a factor for the rapid growth of his production and world commercialization; the reasons that explain the interest that these fruits have woken up are: his high profitability, rapid return of the investment, intensive use of workforce, versatility of the fruits for his consumption and his exporting potential. The present work analyzes the current situation that presents the production and commercialization of berries in our country, as well as the perspectives of development that show the above mentioned species, by means of the use of descriptive statistics; the principal used input was a secondary information of different organisms and dependences, relating to volumes of production, export and import, as well as his respective value (to current prices); the period of analysis was of the year 2005 to 2014. The obtained results indicate that in the period of study, the strawberries represent the berries most exported by Mexico, followed of the raspberries, blueberries and blackberries; The United States is the principal market of export, owed to a great extent to his geographical location and to the facilities of commercial exchange granted by the TLCAN; likewise, the Mexican exports of berries, they are realized principally in fresh air, being the first months of the year (January - April) the window of export most used by the national producers.
