Abstract:
Excerpts from the report Introduction: This is a report of the charges made at each step in the marketing process for potatoes. It takes into consideration the services rendered by marketing agencies, and the channels through which potatoes moved from producing areas to consumers in Pittsburgh, Pa. This report provides specific information on marketing margins for potatoes according to area of production and type of potato. Pricing policies and margins are shown for retail stores according to their methods of buying produce. Data in sufficient detail to relate margins and services are not provided by the regular price-reporting agencies. For those interested in improving the marketing of farm products, exact information of the type given in this report is a necessary prerequisite to studies of marketing efficiency.
