Abstract:
Excerpts from the report Introduction: The feed-mixing industry has changed rapidly in recent years. Among the principal trends noted in this industry are the increase in size of farms, integration of the feed industry and livestock production, bulk delivery of feed, direct sales to farmers, and the growth of on-farm and custom mixing. This report describes the current structure and practices of the industry. Since the industry differs from one part of the country to another, one object of the research was to learn more about the direction the trends are taking in various areas and the speed with which the trends spread from one area to another. Estimates provided by the industry concerning trends in the various trade areas are summarized.
