Evaluation of the Fibrosampler and the Digital Fibrograph for Sampling Cotton Fibers and Measuring Length Characteristics

Frances Carpenter

No 313171, Marketing Research Reports from United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service, Transportation and Marketing Program

Abstract: Excerpts from the report: The Fibrosampler and the Digital Fibrograph are the two most widely used instruments for obtaining length parameters of cotton fibers. These two instruments are the results of the efforts of many technologists working together over a period of more than 20 years. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Fibrosampler as a sampling device and the Digital Fibrograph for measuring length and length distribution and to relate these measurements to processing performance and product quality.
