No 313279, Marketing Research Reports from United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service, Transportation and Marketing Program

Abstract: The variation of three physical and three chemical characteristics of fresh 'Marsh Seedless' and 'Ruby Red' grapefruit imported into Western Europe from various origins was studied in 1974. These characteristics included fruit size, fruit weight, rind thickness, juice volume, total soluble solids, and total acid. The juice-to-fruit-weight ratio and solids-to-acid ratio were calculated from the individual factors. Considerable differences between these characteristics by country of origin were found.
