Abstract:
Excerpts from the report Preface: This publication is intended to supply an account of the extent and distribution of the major agricultural land uses and a general analysis of the land use situation in the United States as of 1954. It is one of a series of publications published at intervals that show acreages of land used for crops, pastures and grazing, forests and woodlands, and other purposes. A brief digest of the basic data for the various major uses of land is presented along with 21 summary tables for the United States as a whole and for the major geographic divisions and farm-production regions. This is followed by a series of 22 tables on major uses of land by States, as grouped by regions.
