Abstract:
This study was initiated after a request in 1977 by the Monticello Pink Tomato Growers Association of Monticello, in southeastern Arkansas, through their Cooperative Extension Service. The associatiori's directors asked for the study to help them determine if it is feasible for them to expand and rebuild their auction marketing facilities that at the time of the study served some 250 tomato growers in the area. A staff member of the Economics, Statistics, and Cooperatives Service (then Farmer Cooperative Service) visited the area to gather information for this study.
