Abstract:
Recent land clearing in Eastern North Carolina is identified through a computer based map overlay process. Land use changes are recorded for soil groupings built from the 1967 Conservation Needs Inventory. At the same time, this map overlay technique locates specific forest habitats that are likely to be affected by land use change in the future, while also indicating the extent of future agricultural potential.
