Milk Distribution Costs of Georgia Cooperatives

Donald E. Hirsch

No 314771, Farmer Cooperative Research Report (FCRR) from United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service

Abstract: Excerpt from the report: At the joint request of the Georgia Association of Dairy Cooperatives and the Georgia Extension Service, this agency made a study in 1953 of the operating problems and costs of all milk distributing cooperatives in Georgia. The objectives of that study were (1) to determine actual costs during the most recent fiscal years for which information was available, (2) to develop recommendations to assist the cooperatives in serving Georgia dairy farmers more efficiently, and (3) to publish the findings of the study in order that cooperatives in other states might share in its benefits. The first two of these objectives were met in October 1953. This publication meets the third objective.
