Excerpts from the report: This study is the initial one of a series Farmer Cooperative Service is making of inventory management by general farm supply cooperatives in various geographic areas of the United States. It endeavors to: 1. Determine purchasing policies and practices that affect inventory acquisition; 2. Ascertain successful practices for storing and controlling inventories and shrinkage in merchandise; 3. Determine principal sales methods affecting inventory turnover, especially those for slow-moving merchandise; and 4. Recommend successful standards and methods for inventory management.
