Abstract: Excerpts from the report: This study is the sixth and last in a series Farmer Cooperative Service is making of inventory management by general farm supply cooperatives in various geographic areas of the United States. It endeavors to do the following: 1. Determine purchasing policies and practices that favorably affect inventory acquisition 2. Ascertain successful practices for storing and controlling inventories and reducing shrinkage in merchandise; 3. Determine principal sales methods affecting inventory turnover, especially those for slow-moving merchandise; and 4. Recommend successful standards and methods for inventory management.
