Highlights of 1985 Food Consumption Data

Abstract: Americans favored an almost incon­gruous mixture of high and lowfat foods, as well as fresh and processed items, in 1985. For example, while consumption increased for chicken and fish and declined for whole milk, use of fats and oils and cream rose. In addition, Americans con­sumed more fresh fruit and juices, but also more soft drinks.
