Abstract: The origins and performance of this journal over a 27-year period are reviewed relative to its initial guidelines. Editorial staff, subject content, author affiliation, and distribution are treated, tracing the evolution of economic research from the seminal Bureau of Agricultural Economics to the present-day Economic Research Service.
