MEASURING LABOR PRODUCTIVITY IN PRODUCTION OF FOOD FOR PERSONAL CONSUMPTION

Abstract: Labor productivity is measured for each of 4 selected years for each of four components of personal consumption expenditures for food: food purchased for off-premises consumption, purchased meals and beverages, food furnished Government and commercial employees, and food produced and consumed on farms. The labor productivity estimates include both direct and supporting labor needs because, through input-output analysis, it was possible to identify supporting labor inputs regardless of their sectoral location in the economy.
