Abstract:
The agricultural sector of the Algerian economy contributes an average of 10-12 percent of gross domestic product. While the most important food crops are wheat and barley, wine is the largest agricultural export. The war for independence and wine-marketing difficulties have caused setbacks in the economy of the country, but increasing petroleum production has offset these problems to some degree.
