The Agricultural Economy and Trade of the United Kingdom

Abstract: Agriculture accounts for 3 percent of the gross national product of the United Kingdom, and 3 percent of the work force is employed in farming. Agricultural imports represent 30 percent of the value of all U.K. imports, while agricultural exports are limited. The agricultural economy is dominated by the feed-livestock sector. Agricultural support policy is in the process of change, and entry into the European Community is being negotiated.
