Abstract:
Excerpts from the Preface: Plans prepared by local leaders in Rural Areas Development work often include plans for outdoor recreation facilities as a means of improving the incomes of people in their area. In the Ozark region of Missouri, the upper portions of Michigan and Minnesota, and the Tennessee Valley, a large number of natural and man-made lakes contribute to the success of recreation enterprises. The list presented here grew out of a review of the literature in preparation for a study of the recreational potential of southern Indiana and nearby areas. It should be useful to research and extension workers. The references include most of the major publications on establishing and operating outdoor recreation enterprises.
