Abstract:
Retail prices of cereal and bakery products rose 39 percent between 1950 and 1964 compared with an increase of only 20 percent for the entire food-at-home price index. Prices of bakery products and breakfast cereals contributed more to the price increase than did products such as wheat flour. Per capita consumption of the cereal components of all cereal and bakery products declined 13 percent since 1950.
