Farm Population: Preliminary Estimates for 1967

Human Resources Branch, Economic Development Division, Economic Research Service

No 321815, Miscellaneous Publications from United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service

Abstract: Excerpt from the report: Preliminary estimates indicate that 10,817,000 persons were living on farms in the United States in April 1967—a decline of about 778,000 from April 1966. The chances are about one out of five that a decline of this magnitude or greater would have been obtained from the survey sample on which the data are based, even if no actual change had occurred in the farm population between 1966 and 1967. However, the annual surveys have shown a continuous decline since 1955.
