Abstract:
This report contains estimates of variable costs of producing major crops in nine production areas in the Southeast region of the United States. Crops include cotton, corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, barley, grain sorghum, peanuts, and tobacco. Budgets show the quantity and value of specific preharvest and harvest inputs, total preharvest costs per acre planted, and total variable costs per acre planted. Detailed breakdowns of seasonal labor use, crop yields, and rates of fertilization are also included.
