Competition Between Soybeans and Other Crops in Major U.S. Regions

W. A. Boutwell, H. M. Harris and D. Kenyon

No 329087, Miscellaneous Publications from United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service

Abstract: Price relationships between soybeans and corn and between soybeans and cotton representing equal returns per acre are presented. In the spring of 1974 price and cost levels shifted the competitive advantage to corn and cotton relative to soybeans. Iso-returns curves were used to establish break-even price ratios and to provide an easy method for adjusting them under changing conditions.
