Abstract:
Prices and margins for 24 processed fruit and vegetable products sold in selected major cities are examined. Retail prices, processor prices, farm values, the wholesaler and retailer margins and the processor margins of most processed fruits and vegetables increased. However, farm values and the marketing margins expressed as a percentage of retail price did not change significantly. The farm value of all 24 products averaged 22 percent of the retail price, the processor margin averaged 42 percent, and the wholesaler and retailer margin 36 percent.
