Abstract:
This report is intended to summarize the research findings on: (1) Changes in the size of the out-of-State seasonal farm labor force in New York State and factors affecting the size of this labor force; (2) Changes in the composition of the Negro migratory labor force, 1953 to 1959; (3) Changes in the employment and earnings of Negro migratory workers, 1953 to 1959; (4) Composition and employment and earnings of Puerto Rican seasonal farmworkers, as reported in the 1959 study; (5) Employment and earnings in farm and food-processing work within New York State, as found in the 1959 study.
