Cost of Production of Tomatoes: Data from Studies in 20 States, Selected Years, 1913-34

Abstract: Excerpts from the report: The following pages present certain data pertaining to the cost of production of tomatoes, as obtained in cost studies by Federal and State agencies in various parts of the United States from 1913 to 1934 inclusive. The data herein presented, in most instances, are either directly from Federal or State publications, or they are computed from data contained therein. The sources of information are listed in the footnotes under each table and the entire list is arranged alphabetically by States on pages 42 and 43. These sources should be consulted for explanation and further details. Care has been exercised that the "total cost" figures include growing and harvesting costs and those incurred by the producer in the preparation of the commodity for market, together with a charge for the use of the land, and for the interest on equipment.
