Abstract:
U.S. farm exports seem to be rebounding from their depressed levels of recent years. That should help farmers who grow export crops, but it will not necessarily translate into significant rural economic growth. Even in the prosperous 1970's, farm-export areas lagged behind other rural areas in growth in population, income, and employment.
