Prospects for U.S. Agricultural Exports to Eastern Europe through 1985

Edward Cook

No 276712, Staff Reports from United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service

Abstract: Following rapid expansion of U.S. agricultural exports to Eastern Europe during the seventies, the prospects for continued growth of these exports are examined for the coming 5 years. Because of their overriding share of U.S. agricultural exports to the region, analysis is limited to grains, oilseeds, and oilseed meal. Results indicate a stagnation in U.S. agricultural exports, due to a decline in East European grain imports from their 1979/80 peak.
