B. G. Johnston

No 278342, Staff Reports from United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service

Abstract: The Australian Government has recently taken steps to reduce assistance levels in its economy. This paper reviews the levels of assistance prevailing in the agricultural sector in the mid- 1980's and discusses how the recent reform initiatives have reduced them. The implications of multilateral liberalization of agricultural policies for Australian agriculture are also considered.
