Abstract:
The goal of the research is to estimate the supply and demand of grain storage for the state of Mato Grosso. This is the first research to employ GPS coordinates to map storage in Mato Grosso. The state has 2,143 registered warehouses. The analysis uses commercial warehouses with capacity greater than 50,000 metric tons as the focus of study. There is an under capacity of 34% compared to production and the situation is aggravated by the rapidly increasing production of second crop maize (safrinha). The worst situation occurs in Sorriso with a maximum deficit of 6,904,730 tons of storage when factoring in a full maize second crop. There is clear evidence of a shortage of storage, particularly private and cooperative, as grain production rises in the state
